UPSC IAS 2022: Friends who live and study together become IAS officers: Unique success story of UPSC

UPSC Civil Services is a unique exam with even more unique success stories. Today we have brought to you the success strategy of three friends who together cleared this exam and became an administrative officer.

When was the last time your mom yelled at you for playing with your useless friends all day? It is an everyday domestic fight that takes place between sons and their mothers. It is extremely rare for parents to approve of their child’s friends. But what if your friends help you become an IAS officer? However, ‘for this you need to make such friends,’ is what your mother would say if you told her this unique UPSC success story of IPS Saad Miyan Khan, IAS Vishal Mishra and IAS Gaurav Vijayram Kumar. All the three friends passed the UPSC Civil Services Exam together and showed the world the power of true friendship. Let us check his life stories, UPSC preparation strategy and current status below.

UPSC IAS 2022: Success story of three friends

Saad Miyan Khan is the top rank holder among his friends. He secured 25th rank among his friends. Saad is from Bijnor and did his BTech from HBTI Kanpur with Vishal Mishra. They both became friends in 2007 and completed their graduation in civil engineering in 2012. The dynamic duo met third wheel Gaurav in New Delhi, when they started preparing for civil services. After doing BTech, Vishal studied MTech from IIT Kanpur, while Saad left for his preparation. Although both of them did not lose touch even after separating.

Gaurav Kumar on the other hand completed his BE Honors – Mechanical Engineering from PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh. He soon moved to Delhi to prepare for UPSC CSE.

UPSC Preparation and Attempts:

Saad Khan Appeared in UPSC CSE four times from 2013 to 2017 and passed in his fifth attempt. He lost his four attempts as he fell behind in General Studies. In 2017 he scored well in GS Paper 1 of UPSC Mains securing 129 marks. His GS2, GS3 and GS4 scores were 120, 127 and 94 respectively. His optional subject at that time was Geography. He recalls his preparation days and says, “In my initial attempts, I made incremental changes like writing an introduction and conclusion or giving a specific example or drawing a figure, but I developed the following process in my own way to consolidate my answers into one. Was able to deliver an overall makeover. 5th attempt.” Saad Mian Khan secured AIR 25 in UPSC 2017.

Gaurav Kumar When asked about his preparation, he said, “I used to discuss all the plans, issues and questions with my friends. They helped me strategize better and thus act as a feedback mechanism for me.” Work done. They are like gems in my life, always enlightening my path and making things easier for me.”

IAS Gaurav thanks his friend Vishal for his constant support during his preparation. He was unsuccessful in his first three attempts. “In the initial attempt, I was not well prepared for the mains exam and in the later attempt, I did not score well in the general studies papers,” he said. Gaurav Kumar secured AIR 34 in UPSC 2017.

Finally, there is Vishal Mishra, Vishal Mishra hails from Uttarakhand and studied at HBTI Kanpur with Saad Mian Khan. He is an engineer by profession and has also done his MTech from IIT Kanpur. He secured AIR 49 in UPSC CSE 2017 and became an IAS officer of 2018 batch.

Presently Vishal Mishra is Joint Magistrate Rudrapur in District Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand. He is known for his efforts in the Kosi River Project. He is also working extensively on the restoration program of ponds in district Udham Singh Nagar.

Saad Mian Khan has chosen IPS and has been placed in the UP cadre. Gaurav Kumar has been appointed as the Joint Magistrate of Azamgarh.

All three friends prove that nothing can stop your success if you have positive motivation around you.
